Juliet Wilkinson
I have been a mediator for more than 20 years. I help my clients to get underneath what they say they want, work out what they need, and then look for common ground to support resolutions that work. My approach is curious, pragmatic, connected and kind.
I became a professional family law mediator in 2007 and founded Able Mediation with Nasrin in 2013. At Able Mediation, we predominantly work with families who are separating or divorcing, supporting them to make their decisions about children, property and finance. However, we also help with all sorts of other family issues, like who will look after much loved pets, how families will care for older people, disagreements over inheritance, and so on.
I am a Child Inclusive Mediator, able to offer sessions for children to enable their voices to be heard and considered in mediations about them. And, I am a Professional Practice Consultant (PPC), offering supervision for other mediators and their practices.
In addition to this, I am a workplace mediator, trainer, facilitator and assessor. I have delivered team facilitations, training to become a workplace mediator, and training relating to conflict management in the workplace more generally. I am also an Internal Moderator for Open College Network’s (OCN) National Accreditation in Workplace Mediation.
More recently, in 2022 I trained as a coach. I have noticed that one of the main reasons people seek coaching relates to conflict, whether the struggles are internal or external. So, in this role I work with people individually to help them to find the confidence and insight to navigate conflict and make positive changes. In addition to the usual ICF coaching tools and frameworks, my skills and experience as a mediator enable me to utilise frameworks from the fields of conflict resolution, communication and psychotherapy to encourage new ways of thinking.
